Volunteer a Little or a Lot

Join our friendly, inclusive, and organized group! We take great pride in supporting our vibrant music community. Whether you have a little time or a lot, there's a place for you. Plus, who doesn't love being part of a band of merry volunteers?

Who Can Volunteer?

Parents of students in Chorus, Color Guard, Concert Band, Jazz Band, Marching Band, Madrigal Choir, Percussion Ensemble, and String Orchestra are encouraged to get involved. But honestly, if you have a pulse and a passion, we'll take you!

Roadies

Ever wanted to be a roadie but missed your chance with that '80s rock band? Now's your moment! Help transport and set up equipment for halftime shows and competitions. Perks include free admission to events and the chance to say, "I'm with the band."

Marching Band Props

If you can swing a hammer or wield a paintbrush, we need you! Help create and build props for the Marching Band show—it's like crafting, but on a grand scale. Usually happens in mid-September. Safety goggles optional but recommended for maximum coolness.

Public Relations

Got a knack for gab or a flair for photography? Lend your expertise in roles like public relations, photography coordinator, video production, webmaster, writer/editor, or website publisher. Our website is the GRMPA hub, and your skills can help keep our community connected and in tune.

Marching Band Dinner

This dinner officially wraps up the Marching Band season. We need volunteers for everything from invitations to decorations, food, and AV magic. It's a memorable evening where senior band members share stories, and awards are handed out. Think Oscars, but with more trombones and less awkward acceptance speeches.

Citrus Sale

Our biggest fundraiser is the town-wide citrus fruit sale in November. Parents organize and drive; kids sell, pack, and deliver fruit. You can join the Citrus Committee or help as a driver, tally guru, or hospitality hero. Just be prepared to live with the nickname "Orange You Glad You Volunteered?"

Pancake Breakfast

Flip pancakes and flip for joy at our annual Pancake Breakfast each mid-March. Parents cook; kids serve; everyone eats too many carbs. You can help coordinate, drive during ticket sales, or show off your pancake-flipping prowess. Warning: May cause syrup-induced happiness.

Snack Shack

What better way to support our young musicians than by serving up snacks at football games? We run the Snack Shack at every home game, selling everything from popcorn to hot dogs—and maybe a side of school spirit. It's a fun way to meet fellow Ridgers and raise funds. Warning: May induce cravings for nachos.

Cabaret Night

Our annual Cabaret Night is a fundraiser, community builder, and talent show extravaganza! Held at the Old Canal Inn in Nutley, it's one of the most enjoyable events of the year. We need volunteers to promote the event, organize the lineup, sell tickets, and manage the soirée. Come for the performances, stay for the applause.

Jazz Band Coffee House

Twice in the spring, we turn the high school cafeteria into a cozy coffee house during Jazz Band performances. Volunteers donate baked goods (calling all cookie connoisseurs!), set up, sell treats, and clean up. It's like your favorite café, but with better music and zero hipsters.

Join Us!

Volunteering with GRMPA is a fantastic way to support our students, meet other awesome parents, and maybe even discover a hidden talent (juggling, anyone?). Whether you can help a little or a lot, your time and enthusiasm make a huge difference. So come on, jump in—the music's fine!
